SEVEN NOW
Seven months have passed and my son is getting as exciting as ever: 1. A small portion of his two bottom front teeth are showing. So, girls, bite he can! 2. Orange is his favorite fruit. The pulp and skin peel are one and the same to him. All of that gets into the mouth. 3. He has a real interest in labels whether if be from the blanky, the pillow, his wrist toy, or a shirt. You'll catch him staring at it, as if reading. 4. Utters 'Dah-dah-dah'. Now, tell me, is 'Mah-mah-mah' just harder to pronounce? 5. Oh, and he crawls. Yes ladies and gentlemen, he does... only in REVERSE mode. He goes backwards. Ha! If you want him to go to you, get behind him then! 6. This lil guy can be stubborn sometimes [wonder where he got that from? hmmmmm!]. He gets lazy holding his bottle and will truly make an effort to get away from doing so. Those arms will remain on his lap even if you bring it up. 7. And lastly, a digital camera is no longer a foreign object to this guy. He will smile away for that brief click and undoubtedly, all of his charm captured. At seven months, he is such a mellow and cool little guy. And I hope it stays that way for a looooong time. Yeah, I wish!

KANSAS GIRLS IN SFO
Been awhile... but am back!!!
Lately, it's been very hectic attending to family business but all of it was enjoyable. Nieces 'Andrea' and 'Patricia' from Kansas visited and entertained us with crazy stories from home, school, and life in general. Andrea even had her thought about Fayel possibly having a sibling in the future. I'd have to think this one out though. Am sure that big families are fun --- heck, Joseph came from a big family --- but then again, the thought of it is just all too overwhelming. Oh, and Patricia is just the character --- so much life and vibrance with confidence to boot that you can't take away from her. The Mommy really trained her well. Whoever thought that there are 'nice germs' will ONLY be her, nobody else! But then again... maybe this girl has 'issues' [huh, Patricia?!! wink! wink!]
I wish that Fayeli could remember their visit but then again, it gives us opportunity in the future. Maybe Andrea could drive us around Kansas, hoping by this time she's allowed to drive the family car --- cruising around town in that van [Andrea, how cool is that!!!!??].
Yes, it was a hectic week these girls had. But am sure it's all worth it. We tremendously enjoyed having them around. Til next time!

Fayel Joins the Catholic Christian Club
Yesterday, February 6, 2005, was Fayel's christening [and the Superbowl which New England Patriots won, by the way]. His suit, dry-cleaned and crisp with a hat to match. His shoes all white. The service which lasted 20 minutes was performed by Deacon Viray at the Church of the Epiphany. Fayel asleep in my arms was quiet all throughout, except when the Holy Water was poured on his forehead, then we all heard the cry. Yet it was solemn and simple. Apt for my little boy.
Sponsors: Ron Simmons, Rommel Simmons, Nars Alaras, Gretel Sanchez, Melody Sanchez, and Joan Sanchez
More Ninangs (abroad): Gale Villar, Jing Palad, April Caparas, Ida Torres, Lora Tuason, Amy Campos, Trixie Alfonso, Jona Escaner, Marian Santiago.
Afterwards, festivities was held at Fayel's grandma's house. Grandma cooked tasty Pinoy dishes starting with my all time favorite kare-kare, bopis, and veggies. Ninong Rommel bought the celebrant a very tasty all-true Pinoy lechon which everyone devoured in less than ten minutes, and this is not an exaggeration! Tita Ellen cooked delicious lecheflan while Tita Cecil brought some crunchy turon. Of course, there are food from Imperial (Tito Vinh's parent's restaurant) - the popular chow mein and fried rice, prawn with lobster sauce, and another chicken dish. Plus daddy fried chicken wings and fish for sweet and sour. My contribution, fruit salad, a lot of fun, and my son [we wouldn't be having the party if not for him, right?]
As for presents, thoughtful ninongs, ninangs, titos and titas, uncles and aunts [supposedly lolos and lolas who refused to be called such], cousins, and friends gave enough clothes that will last him 'til age two. Not to mention a hefty bank account [now we could buy that iBook Fayel wants all along... KIDDING!!!!] Thank you all from Joseph and me. Your presence is a real gift but the presents are better!
Hope you also keep Fayel's little token and enjoy listening to his favorite lullabies.
Next grand ocassion - October 8, 2005 - Fayel turns ONE! See us there running after him.
P.S. To all my great friends who weren't here to celebrate with us but wished they were... thank you, too. You guys know who you are.
